I was a singer  And on one of my consorts  A lady walked up to me   
She was sweet  She was pure  And she was in love   
We became friends  Close friends  I wrote songs and sung them to her  She listened and commented  It was a good relationship  Or so I thought   
She wanted more  She wanted love  But she only got friendship   
She stood with me  We laughed  We cried  But I was less knowing  Because she cried more   
She loved me  She thought I loved her  She thought the songs were hers  I didn’t kn
